Shudufhadzo Musida known as Miss SA, writes a book called ‘Shudu finds her magic’, a book that defines her and her upbringing but focuses on the effects of bullying that she experienced at an early age, and how she overcame the sadness of the ordeal.

Born 18th July 1996, Musida was raised by a loving family in a small village at Ha-Vhangani. On the 24th October 2020, she was crowned Miss SA, making a strong statement. Her win brought about confidence to many women in South Africa, After Zozibini proved women with German haircuts are still beautiful, Musida outshined that statement.

She holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, obtained at the University of Pretoria. Earlier this year in July she completed International Relations honours degree at Wits university.

The book is being published by Jacana Media, in partnership with Miss South Africa, it is available in 6 languages, Afrikaans(Shudu Vind Haar Sprankel), English( shudu finds her magic), sesotho( shudu o Sibona Boikgetho ba hae), venda( shudu o wana  vhutolo hawe), xhosa( ushudu u fumanisa ukuba unomlingo), and Zulu( ushudu uthola umlingo wakhe).

“The one lesson I learnt is that when something bad is happening to you, it is important to speak to an adult that you trust about it, this could be a parent or an elder, remember that being bullied is not your fault, there is nothing wrong with you and nobody should have to go through what I went through.” Said Musida in her book.

She says every book that will be sold, the money will be donated to childline South Africa and The South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG), which helps children going through bullying and depression. Other copies will be given to literature organizations like Biblionef South Africa, which donates books to schools and libraries.

Shudufhadzo Musida was on book tour in Cape Town, she visited various schools such as Centre of Science and Technology, Sormset College, Micklefield School and Sweet Valley Primary School. The signing of the book also took place at Exclusive Books Cavendish Square and at Exclusive Books Canal walk.

She educated young minds about the importance of mental health and bullying, since that has become the biggest issue in society, leading to suicides. The book is a powerful tool, as it gives children the kind of help they need to build a solid foundation for their future.
