Maritzburg United have released Ernst Middendorp of his responsibilities as the Head Coach of Maritzburg United ahead of the new season in the DStv Premier league.
The German tactician and Maritzburg United parted ways on mutual consent, Ernst Middendorp returned for his fourth spell with the Pietermaritzburg outfit in 2020 following the departure of Eric Tinkler.
Upon his arrival at the club had lost several key players and were left with an ageing squad, to safety in the 2021/22 campaign. During his fourth spell at club the German tactician has managed to pick 7 wins in 30 matches with 13 losses and has guided them to position 12 in the 2021/22 Dstv Premiership campaign.
In an effort to start rebuilding for the 2022/23 season, the KZN outfit has confirmed that eight of their veteran players and head coach will not form part of their plans ahead of the new season.
The departure of the German tactician has sparked the rumours of Fadlu Davids returning to the Pietermaritzburg outfit , after he was released by Orlando Pirates last week.
