Orlando Pirates Miss The Opportunity Of Clinching The CAF CONFEDERATIONS CUP TITLE AND 20 MILLION.

The Soweto based team Orlando Pirates travelled to Nigeria to face RSB Berkane, in an a highly anticipated encounter of the CAFCC final at the Akpabio International Stadium on Friday evening.

The MayFair overcame Al Ahli Tripoli 2-1 on aggregate in a two-legged semi-final.Despite them losing at home to the Libyan outfit on Sunday. Berkane overcame TP Mazembe in a 4-2 aggregate victory, scoring three goals in 17 minutes in the second leg in front of their home fans in Morocco.

Both teams went into the fixture as favourites to win the CAFCC title following their stellar performance to reach finals, and their history at continental level. The first 45 minutes saw Orlando Pirates being the better side in front of the ball and creating chances when Deon Hotto fired straight at the Goalkeeper following a brilliant pass from Dlamini in the first 15 minutes.

The Buccaneers kept Berkane’s Keeper on his toes when Pirates attack kept on wasting decent chances without converting .In the dying minutes of the half-hour mark Berkane displayed an attacking character as Mehdi Oubilla unleashed a half-volley from the edge of the box that flashed wide. The game reached the Half-hour mark into a goalless draw.

Just a few seconds into the second half, Pirates couldn’t break the deadlock as Hamiani Akbi saved Deon Hotto’s efforts. The two teams couldn’t be separated from each as Pirates efforts were saved by Berkane Keeper until the final 90 minutes.

As the two teams couldn’t be separated, the match resulted into Extra Time which saw Berkane ending the Buccaneers CAFCC ambitions in a 5-4 victory on penalties.
