Naomi Osaka who holds seven WTA Tour titles which includes two at the Premier Mandatory level. At the 2018 US Open and the 2019 Australian Open.
Osaka won her first two Grand Slam singles titles in back-to-back Grand Slam tournaments and is the first player to achieve this feat since Jennifer Capriati in 2001. She also became the first woman to win successive Grand Slam singles titles since Serena Williams in 2015.
Naomi Osaka is one of the most remarkable athletes as she’s been named the Laureus World Sportswoman of the year, earlier this year. Osaka also became the first tennis player to light the Olympic cauldron during the opening ceremony. Osaka has been ranked number 1 in her career’s high ranking in 2019, she also ranked number 3 in the WTA single rankings.
Osaka went head-to-head with Lyle Fernandez of Canada and lost to Lyle. A dip in her form left her tearful and she has told reporters that she will take a break from tennis.
“I honestly don’t know when I’m going to play my next tennis match,” Osaka said, choking up and wiping away tears. “I think I’m going to take a break from playing for a while.” Said Osaka
