After a successful stint under the former Porto FC and Orlando Pirates star, Coach Benni McCarthy Usuthu held their individual awards ceremony for 2020/21 season on Thursday Afternoon at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Usuthu finished second in the 2020/21 DSTV Premier League season. Usuthu also managed to qualify for CAF Champions League that will be taking part later this year.
Makhehlene Makhaula won big after bagging the Player’s player of the season, most valuable player and President’s award. Veli Mothwa won Player of the season and Golden Glove award, followed by Augustine Mulenga winning Playmaker of the year award. Best player of the DSTV Diski challenge was won by Lindani Shange. Top marksman Lehlohonolo Majoro with 9 goals. Top DSTV Diski goal scorer Lindo Zungu, Most improved player Tapelo Xoki and with Siyethemba Sithebe winning the Usuthu Spirit award.
Usuthu also unveiled their new signings in the ceremony, Keagan Buchanan and Mxolisi Kunene joined Usuthu as free agents from Maritzburg United. Tercious Malepe completed his return at Usuthu after parting ways with FC Mynai of Ukranian Premier League, meanwhile Philani Zulu joined Usuthu as a free agent from Kaizer Chiefs. Amazulu also bolstered their team ahead of the 2021/22 campaign by promoting Lindani Shange and Tshepang Moremi (24) Â from the DSTV Diski Challenge.
Usuthu are set to take on 2020/21 log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns in the 2021/22 DSTV Premiership campaign on Friday 20 August 2021 as the opening fixture.
