Two suspects alleged for cable theft found guilty

Happy Dube and Anye Valentine Nkwenti were sentence to a combine sentence of 27 years in prisoned. The two were caught by police while trying to evade the police in 2018, they were found guilty of stealing 4km of electrical cables. Eskom welcomes this sentence of the two thieves.

Dube was sentenced to 12 years in prison while Nkwenti was sentence to 15 years in prison at the Bronkhorstspruit Court earlier this month. The suspects were caught after evading the police at Ystervarkfontein in the Welbekend area, north of Pretoria. Kith Maitisa, Eskom Safety, Health, Environment and Quality manger in Gauteng expressed how grateful he was for all the people who came together to get these criminals in jail. Not only does cable theft coast the company about R2 billion per year but it also leads to illegal connections which then leads to power outages and also affect the supply of electricity.
