A Teacher at Phambili Secondary School in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, has been accused of carrying a gun and often pointing it at learners. According to a news outlet, the woman who teaches at the school in Rossburg uses the weapon to scare the learners.

The parents have been calling on the school to take action against the teacher and her bullying tactics. The teacher reportedly also points the gun at other fellow teachers at the school. The parents apparently knocked on her door with the plan to physically get her off from the school premises but she didn’t show up.

“We are tired of this teacher, we are tired of having a teacher with a gun at school. Furthermore, have you ever heard of students being silenced by a gun? We want the teacher to leave,” said the parents

The chairperson of the school governing body, Surprise Makhethwa also said she needed to leave. “We cannot have a teacher who does such things, we have children with a bright future here.”

The KZN department of education has condemned the incident, saying no educator is aloowed to bring weapons to school, let alone a gun. The department intends going to the school to engage with the principal and find out whether any action has been taken against the educator
