Percy Tau has thanked his former club, Brighton & Hove Albion as he departed to join the Egypt’s Al Ahly on Thursday, 26 August.
Tau joined the English side in 2018 but due to failure of meeting the UK work permit, he had to be loaned out until he met the requirements. The Lion of Judah as he is affectionately known, has sincerely thanked his former club for giving him time to showcase his talent.
“Thank you @OfficialBHAFC for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the Club,” Tau wrote on his Twitter account.
“I’m proud of my journey and very proud of my time at Brighton. You gave me the opportunity I never imagined growing up in Witbank.”
The South African international spent his time on loan with three Belgian clubs, Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, Club Brugge and Anderlecht before returning to his parental club early this year.
“A decision to sign me with all the complications that were in place. I’m grateful,” he said.
“I want to say more but my lack of social expression defeats me. The supporters of the Club, thank you.”
Bafana Bafana international only made six appearances after being recalled and scored only a goal in a pre-season friendly match against Luton on Saturday, 31 Jul 2021.
The 27-year old attacker has been unveiled by Al Ahly on Thursday on a four-year permanent deal which will see him with the Red Devils until 2024.
His move will see him reuniting with his former coach at Mamelodi Sundowns Pitso Mosimane.
