Netball South Africa hosted the International Netball Tournament on Tuesday the 14th of September at Hatfield Arena, Pretoria.
The tournament included three African Countries which is, South Africa, Uganda, and Ghana. South Africa was represented by the South African Netball Team, Department of Correctional Services and Action Sports. It’s been ten years since the tournament last took place in 2013.
South African Netball team went head-to-head with Uganda in the final fixture of the tournament on Saturday morning, both teams were battling for the Gold Medal with South Africa being in position 1 on the log and Uganda second on the log. Meanwhile Kenya and Action Sports of South Africa battled it out for Bronze Medal with Kenya in third position and Action Sports in the fourth position on the log.
South Africa led Uganda 31-16 in the first half of the clash and extended their lead in the second half as the game ended into a 59-34 victory for the South African team and securing the Gold Medal. Meanwhile Action SA secured Bronze Medal after defeating Kenya 43-42.
Eugene Sinxesi emerged as Player of the Tournament, Shane Labuschagne as Best Shooter, Shiko Mokaila as Best Mid-Court and Gonzaga Kigozi of Uganda as Best Defender.
