According to multiple reports, Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood has been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault.

The 20-year-old England International’s arrest comes after his girlfriend Harriet Robson posted an audio clip of the player forcing himself on her and multiple images showing her bruises following the incident on her Instagram account.

According to the Athletic UK, the Greater Manchester Police have confirmed Greenwood’s arrest and he remains in custody for questioning.

“Greater Manchester Police was made aware earlier today (Sunday 30 January) of online social media images and videos posted by a woman reporting incidents of physical violence. An investigation was launched and following enquiries we can confirm a man in his 20s has since been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault. He remains in custody for questioning. Enquiries are ongoing,” Greater Manchester Police said, as per the Athletic.
