Economic Freedom Fighter president Julius Malema on Freedom Day, took to Mamelodi to address the community of Pretoria to touch on factors affecting South Africa, most especially the black society of the country. One of the contributing factor leading the country away from its perspective of freedom is crime at its high level, located amongst the townships of South Africa.
Malema mentioned to his crowed, to look at crime as a destruction it is and how it contributes to everything that has gone wrong within the townships of SA. From corruption in police stations, to rape and assault. The red beret leader says the degrading of academic results in township schools is a result of criminal activities in the area, preventing learners from conducting group studies, also going to libraries to study, due to fear of being attacked or raped.
According to Malema, Soshanguve has become a place of crime and has no trust that the police are fit enough to perform the services appointed to perform. “We need to challenge police to be fit and proper.” the EFF party leader emphesised on how corrupt the law enforcement in the area is, alleging that officers release inmates to perform murders and returned to prison as though they were never out. “It’s because correctional services is corrupt, it releases people to go out and kill people and go back, when you ask they say how when he was inside.” claimed Malema
He asked the community to stand for themselves and protect their community, protect the women of the community as they are more valuable and deserving. He says women are raped and exploited at work to perform sexual pleasures as job applicants for employment, even though women have proved to carry the highest number of unemployed South Africans.
“A criminal is a criminal and should be treated like every criminal” The leader says crime will not be determined by your nationality and your legal right to reside within the grounds of that certain country. Malema says its high time Police Minister Bheki Cele’s “stomach in chest out” method take action and out with overweight police officers.
