Education in KZN to Resume in Phases | Motshekga Speaks Hope

Angie Motshekga spend her day visiting schools in Kwa Zulu Natal to monitor the situation at hand before concluding to a decision. The visit from the department of education resulted in Motshekga saying schools will reopen in phases. it was confirmed that over 600 schools have been affected by floods, delaying schools  from reopening since the long weekend. 57 leaners confirmed dead along with an Educator, 5 learners are still missing.

Education in KZN is badly affected by the outcome of the unbearable weather conditions. Just as the strain and worry focused on homes destroyed and having to rebuild. Now education has been added on the list of demages, stressing and putting more pressure on the government. The department of education has said to start rebuilding and maintaining damage at school with immediate effect, also woking on getting learners to return to school to catch up.

Motshekga says she has strong faith that the leaners will be work in school in no time and expect them to start going back to school this coming Friday, the SANDF has also been appointed to assist in the reconstruction of the road. Minister of transport Fikile Mbalula also mentioned his focus is on roads that give access to health care facilities, schools and police services. The province has received a R1 billion relief funds to start attending to the damage.

the president of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa during his speech has mentioned on the housed that will be built, will also touch on preventing loss of houses from  being washed off by floods. Schools are also a priority to the government as of this moment, Sihle Zikalala Premier of KZN says they are looking to place mobile classroom at 100 schools for schools to commence with studies immediately.
