Springboks have started their first test of the Castle Lager Lions Series 2021 Tournament against The British & Irish Lions with a 17 – 22 loss to the Irish Lions.
The teams locked horns at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday at 18.00 in a cloudy condition, both teams came into the fixture with a lot of confidence as they’ve beaten their opponents in their last games.
In the opening half The Lions were pressured into mistakes which saw them being punished by The Springboks. The Boks went into the half-time leading 12-3. Heading into the second half The lions roared as Dan Biggar had a good kick and netted four penalties converted into 14 points personal tally. The boks conceded 13 penalties meanwhile The Lions conceded 8.
Luke Cowan-Dickie scored a try for the lions , the Boks conceded a late penalty which was converted by Owen Farell in the dying minutes. Maro Itotje was selected as the man of the match on the evening. The two teams are set to meet on Saturday 31st July 2021 in the second test at the Cape Town Stadium.
