The police have opened a man hunt for suspects that opened fire on nine people, leaving five injured and four dead. The shooting took place just after midnight, on Thursday morning. The suspects entered the yard through the gate at a house in Betheldorp, Port Elizabeth. They separated the victims and began to open fire.
The order to have a 72-hour mobilization plan to track and arrest the suspects was given by the provincial commissioner Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene in the Eastern Cape. The police have confirmed that there were nine people sitting in the yard when two cars came and stoped by the gate of the house.
Four unidentified males, who were allegedly covering their faces, came out of the cars and entered the yard. “They allegedly separated the group of people who were gathered in the place and started shooting at the nine” Brigadier Theminkosi kinana said. Kinana also confirmed that four people were found dead on the scene and the other five were rushed to a nearby hospital, their injuries were tended to there.
The ages of the deceased were not released, but the five that were injured are between the ages of 29 and 31. “Four cases of murder and five cases of attempted murder have been registered. No arrests have been made at this stage” Kinana said.
