EMS Respond To Fire At Bree Taxi Rank

Robert Mulaudzi, the COJEMS Spokesperson of the Johannesburg Emergency Medical Services (EMS) made an alert of a fire incident that occured at the Bree Street Taxi Rank in Johannesburg on Sunday morning 24 April 2022. Firefighters responded to the scene, no injuries were reported by EMS, the fire is currently under investigation.

Mulaudzi says the fire has been extinguished, however the cause of fire at one of Johannesburg’s busiest taxi rank is not yet known. The Johannesburg Firefighters Emergency Services concurred the blaze in the early hours of Sunday morning. “At this stage there are no injuries which have been reported. And the subject of the fire is still a detail of investigations, more details will follow,” said  EMS Spokesperson, Robert Mulaudzi.

As the await of the details for the cause is still underway, taxi operators are still transporting the public. No fatalities were reported by the responders. This is the second fire to be reported at the rank since the first in September 2019 and reports of taxi’s burning in 2016 and 2020.
