The Netherlands international star signed a four years contract extension at Liverpool which will see him play for Liverpool team until 2025.
The 30 year old played a huge role during Liverpool’s 2019/2020 title winning campaign. But he missed much of last season due to a knee injury, he is now back and ready for the new season with a new deal that will see him playing with the reds for the next three seasons.
Van Dijk becomes the fourth Liverpool star to sign a new deal at Anfield, following Fabhino, Trent and Alisson after months of new deal negotiations. Liverpool will take on Norwich this Saturday for their season opener. The €75 million defender, who was signed from Sunderland is expected to play a huge role in helping Liverpool achieve silverware this season.
Van Dijk said ”He looks forward to what the future brings together with Liverpool. I am delighted and happy with the new deal and Liverpool is arguably one of the biggest club in the world with the best fans and I enjoy playing for the club.”
He continued to say that he is happy to be back after the injury and is looking forward to contributing to the success of the team as their English Premiership campaign starts on Saturday.
