Mamelodi

Mamelodi Sundowns hosted Golden Arrows on Tuesday evening at Lucas Moripe Stadium. The teams were meeting on the 2nd leg of the MTN8 Semi-finals, the first leg ended into 1 all draw at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.

As usual the Best Team in Africa, Mamelodi Sundowns opened the first 45 minutes with a goal from Peter Shalulile on the 3rd minute following a mistake made by Arrows Goalkeeper Sifiso Mlungwana.

Two minutes after Shalulile’s goal Velemseni Ndwandwe almost equalized for Abafana’Besthende with a shot outside the box but Pieterse made a great save by shoving the ball towards the bottom corner. Sundowns extended their lead through Divine Lunga on the 29th minute following a glancing cross from Thabiso Kutumela. Sundowns went into the half-hour mark leading Arrows 2-0 and 3-1 on Aggregate.

Going into the second half both created several chances but failed to convert those chances. Sundowns dominated in terms of possession and Arrows were falling behind, Abafana’Besthende introduced a few substitutes to change the game but Sundowns was too much for them.

Neo Maema added a final nail to Arrows as he scored the 3rd goal for Sundowns on 90+4 minutes of added time. The match ended into a 4-1 victory for Sundowns over Arrows on Aggregate and Sundowns  booked their place in the MTN 8 finals.
