Fives lives were lost and five others injured after suspects went on a shooting spree in Alexander, killing the innocent during loadshedding on Thursday night.
Police are on the hunt for four suspects believed to have been behind the shootings. Allegations made are on one suspect arrested after found in possession of unlicensed firearms and other weapons. There runs a new culture of mass shootings in South Africa, targeting South Africans.
Mass shooting in the recent weekends have been reported with having killed 15 patrons at a Soweto tavern, four at a Pietermaritzburg tavern and two in Katlehong and now the number has increased with five more from Alexander, who were minding their business when killed.
Two of those shot in Alex were charging their phones in the car when the shooter walked up to their vehicle and opened fire. Alex FM radio music compiler was one of the five killed in the shooting spree. This recent shootings have sparked debate on social media, requesting that the SAPS take a look into the matter and to take note of the voice note that circulated a week before the tavern killings began.
In the voice note, it is alleged that foreign nationals sent out a threat to open fire at Sputh Africans, killing them. Minister of Police Bheki Cele has not made an address on the recent Alexander shooting.
