Inter Milan went head-to-head with Genoa FC on Saturday evening at the San Siro Stadium, in the opening fixture of the 2021/22 Italy Serie A campaign.
It was Inter Milan’s first fixture without its former heroic striker Romelo Lukaku as he was signed by Chelsea earlier this month ahead of the new season.
The moment the referee blew his whistle for the first half to begin, Inter looked virtuous upfront as they penetrated Genoa FC, and found the back of the net through Milan Skriniar in the 6th minute. In the 14th minute Hakan Calhanoglu extended Milan’s lead making the score line 2-0 against Genoa before half-time.
It seemed like Inter Milan prepared themselves for life without Lukaku, as in the second half they continued to punish Genoa, Arturo Vidal extended Milan’s lead in the 74th minute. In the 87th minute the Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko finished off what Milan has started by finding the back of the net. The match ended with 4-0 win for Inter Milan against Genoa, Milan secured 3 points and maintain 1st position after defeating Genoa FC.
