Ekurhuleni Officials and Ekurhuleni MMC for community safety Letlhogonolo Moseki, have taken the moment to visit the two families of victims who were shot and killed at the Katlehong tavern, where two suspect opened fire, killing two patrons last Friday night and left four others injured and were rushed to hospital.

Police are calling on eye witnesses who manage to get the number plate belonging to the runaway car used and those who managed to take video footages, to help by coming forward with the information. The victims were 28 year old Sibusiso Hlatshwayo and 56 year old James Fitha. The 28 year old resided not far from the tavern where he was killed. Ekurhuleni officials say they found and elderly when visiting the first family of the 28 year old.
The weekend was declared as a black Sunday, followed by three tavern shootings at three different taverns On Friday night 7 July, two patrons were shot injuring four in Katlehon, on Saturday night 8 July, four patrons were shot in Pietermaritzburg, injuring nine and on Sunday in the early hours of midnight, 21 patrons were shot in Soweto, killing 15 people.
Since the shootings, police security have been installed at these taverns to patrol the areas.
