AS Roma has signed Tammy Abraham.

Abraham

Abraham has signed a five-year permanent deal with the Italian giants AS Roma for $40 million from Premier League team Chelsea.

The 23-year-old player began his career with Chelsea when he was seven years old, progressing through the club’s academy system. In 2015 and 2016, he was a member of the Chelsea young side that won the UEFA Youth League and the FA Youth Cup in successive years.

He was eventually called back to Chelsea in the 2019/20 season, after spending time on loan with several clubs.

Abraham joins AS Roma as a replacement for Eden Dzeko, who has joined FC Internazionale Milano, better known as Inter Milan outside of Italy. After signing club-record fee player Romelo Lukaku, Chelsea football club sold the younger player.

“His decision to leave the Premier League and the club where he grew up illustrates how much he believes in this opportunity to further his career and show what he can achieve at Roma.  said Tiago Pinto, Roma’s General Manager.

The athlete is eager to begin a new chapter in his career, under the guidance of Jose Mourinho, a seasoned coach. According to Roma TV, he was assigned the number 9 shirt “Being the club’s No. 9 is a huge responsibility. I’m very excited to get going.”

Following Rui Patricio, Eldor Shomurodov, and Matias Vina, Abraham becomes the club’s fourth summer signing.
