A witness is set to testify on the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, and on Wednesday during cross-examination of the first state witness Forensic Police Officer Thabo Mosia, who handled forensics for the murder that transpired on October 26 2014, Advocate Malesela Teffo shocked the court with his statement, saying the witness will testify Kelly Khumalo who was Senzo Meyiwa’s girlfriend, shot him by mistake.

Not only that, but Adv Teffo says the same witness will also allege that the weapon used by Khumalo, was brought to the Vosloorus home of Khumalo’s mother by Longwe Twala, who was boyfriend to the sister Zandi.

“A witness will testify that Meyiwa was allegedly shot by Nonhlanhla Kelly Khumalo by mistake. The same witness will further testify that the weapon used came with Longwe Twala and the firearm is a revolver,” said Teffo to Mosia

The policeman replied by saying he had no comment on the statement said by the advocate. However Adv Teffo continued to say the witness would further allege that removing Meyiwa from the crime scene (which is the house where he was shot) by taking him to hospital was intended to cover the details in which he had been shot. “All efforts were made to avoid the relatives and the friends or people known to Senzo, in particular that day as he was supposed to attend a birthday party of his friend. They were avoiding Pirates players to come to that house. Instead they deemed it fit for them to go visit Senzo at the hospital,” said Adv Teffo.
