The South African Weather Service has warned that there could be a damaging force of wind accompanied by wet weather in the province of KwaZulu-Natal from Monday afternoon.

This warning comes after the province has been battling bad weather for a very long time with the number of deaths climbing to 459. The eThekwini Municipality spoke person Msawakhe Mayisela has urged the public to be cautious during this period. “Mayor, Mxolisi Kaunda has instructed emergency personnel to be on standby following warning from the South African Weather Services. We are more than ready to respond wherever we will be required to respond. We continue to monitor the situation and update the public accordingly” Mayisela said

KZN has been experiencing bad weather for the past few months and has claimed lives, living several people homeless. The AD-Hoc Joint Committee on Flood Disaster Co-Chair Jomo Nyabi has said that most of the KZN’s infrastructure has been wiped out and assistance from the different private sectors has been assisting the families who are affected. “We have to have a streamlined approach, a proper coordination that will bring serious effectiveness and efficiency so that we try to speed up the process,” Nyabi said.
