Stellenbosch University to Settle Students Debt with the R8.1 million Raised

Since November last year Stellenbosch university has been raising funds to help settle students’ debts and to date, they managed to raise funds

Since November last year Stellenbosch university has been raising funds to help settle students’ debts and to date, they managed to raise funds amounting to R8.1 million.

The university has stretched out their hand of appreciation to the doners and fund raisers who helped in making the R8.1 million possible to gather. The money will go into settling the student debt that prevented and still is preventing graduates from taking their next academic journey.

In South Africa, universities and other tertiary institutes have made it mandatory to hold on to the certificate if one still owes the school regardless of being funded by the National Student Financial Aid Scheme NSFAS or any other bursary scheme. And such has prevented many graduates from getting into the workplace environment.

About four weeks ago, the likes of Thuli Madonsela and other prominent statuses personnel have completed a marathon walk in a bid to raise funds for Stellenbosch graduates who owed the university a hefty amount of money.

There are other foundations and graduates who are also walking through the same process, trying to raise funds to assist in settling the student debt of graduates all over South Africa. It is unfortunately impossible to get any form of employment related to your career choice without having the correct papers, most especially a qualification.

With the R8.1 million raised, the university in question will be able to accomplish the dreams of many and assist them in conquering the world of unemployment, giving them an opportunity to venture into the work of employment debt free.
