On Thursday the 18th of November 2021 residents of Namakgale in Phalaborwa marched outside Namakgale Cinema nearby Namakgale Police Station, pleading justice  following the gruesome murder of Pontsho Ngomane who was stabbed to death in Namakgale Zone C, Bosveld.
The 31 year old was  attacked and stabbed on Saturday the 13th of November 2021 by unknown suspect(s) who is/are believed to be Nyaope boys in the area. Ngomane succumbed to her injuries at a nearby Hospital.Following the incident, the Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe later ordered an immediate intervention to halt the violence in the area.
Messages of condolences started pouring in on her Facebook account, whilst some reflected on the memories they’ve shared with her, the incident has shaken residents of Magdalena, and has led them to taking a stand against such crimes. The march was also attended by the Police of Phalaborwa to hear out the complaints of community members, and certain issues were addressed and resulted into the Station Commander of Phalanger Police Station being boed .
A community member by the name of Bianca  Mashala from Namakgale Zone C expressed her frustrations stating the service from the SAPS in the area as incompetence, “They don’t take us serious, we are getting killed and raped, when we go to  the Police Station they’d tell you that the Police Van has gone out.’’
“My 13 year old child was threatened with a knife and robbed off a mere R5, I went to the Police Station to report the incident and they didn’t do anything, I am no longer reporting anything there because I am tired of them .’’
No arrests have been made thus far, the 31 year old will be laid to rest on the 20th of November 2021.
