Zandile Mafe the alleged parliament arsonist is on the stand for his bail hearing. “I had to take those jobs because I had rent of R450 to pay”

Mafe’s bail hearing is underway at the Cape Town Magistrate High Court, he pleaded not guilty to all charges against him. Questioned on stand by his new lawyer Dali Mpofu, Mafe explains his financial means.

Mafe has made mentions that he would like to sue the state for damages in relation to his incarseration and the days he spent imprisoned and says once he gets bail he will surely stay at his place in Khayelitsha at the address the state has information to and that there will be no need for him to run away with no employment and its not going to be easy for him to get employment as he is now known all over South Africa.

“I have nowhere to hide if it pleases the court the state can also direct me to Mafikeng I will rush back this side whenever I’m needed for this case”

The accused on the stand says he further asks that the state offer him grand money so he can afford food and clothes to wear and for the government to also cover his R100 worth DStv so he can peacefully watch TV at home. Mafe confirmed he has never had any mental illness situation until the state Dr diagnosed him. Mafe said he worked very hard to complete his studies up until his Grade 12

On an affidavit, the accused says he contracted the Corona virus while he was illegally held at the hospital but believes that was just a tactic or plot from the state to make sure he doesn’t see anyone or meet up with his lawyers.
