Nigeria Destroys Over One Million Doses of Vaccines, Is SA Next?

In a bid to alert the public of safety precautions taken regarding vaccines, Nigeria has destroyed over one million of the AstraZeneca

In a bid to alert the public of safety precautions taken regarding vaccines, Nigeria has destroyed over one million of the AstraZeneca doses of vaccines that have expired.

The Health Authorities had made mentions on vaccines donated by rich Western nations had only a week left to be given as Jabs as its shelf life were close to expire. The destroying of the vaccines was encouraged by the released statement by the health authorities

A report was sent out earlier in December that over a million doses had expired in November and were still sealed. Media personnel’s along with heath officials stood at the Abuja dumping site, watching over as a bulldozer executed the expired jabs. The destruction was made public to assure Nigerians that the current vaccination is safe and ready to be used.

“We have successfully withdrawn 1,066,214 doses of expired AstraZeneca vaccines. We have kept our promise to be transparent to Nigerians. The destruction today is an opportunity for Nigerians to have faith in our vaccination programme” said the National Primary Health Care Development Agency Executive Director, Faisal Shuaib

World Health Organization (WHO) raised concerns about African countries still adamant to take the jab. Last month, South Africa stopped vaccination from being delivered to the country as they feared over stocking.  Stock was labelled as enough for South Africa and lately the country raises concerns that people are not coming through to get vaccinated.

Now eyebrows are raised in wonders as to is South Africa next to destroy doses caused by people not coming through to vaccinate. The government worldwide is encouraging people to take the opportunity and vaccinate as reports have shown that death cases reported are of the unvaccinated and half vaccinated people.
