Parents of unplaced children in Gauteng say the system has failed them along with their children. Schools were open and learning resumed on 12 January 2022, with the usual rollercoaster mood with kids excited for school and some just not interested in entering the gate, tears and cries everywhere.

Second day of school and tension between Gauteng parents and the department of Education is at temperature level. Parents say they are not happy with the system, as it has proved multiple times every year that it does not work.

Children being placed at schools not appeasing them or parents is still the elephant in the room in this matter, it is what they say the department of Education does not address and look into.

Videos of grade one leaners refusing to go to school are still circulating through social media, and also clip of cute adorable moments of 3 month olds also enjoying their first moments at school.
