To write better, you must establish a taste for truth. You must pay more attention to what you truly think, feel, see, and desire. This is Bridgetty Mupedze’s story.
Bridgetty Mupedze is a bright, hardworking, and self-motivated young lady. She is a motivational speaker, author, and former journalist, running a small cleaning service company. Mupedze grew up in Johannesburg, then moved to Roodepoort, and now resides in Majazana.
She started writing when she was in high school and pursuing a career in modeling. Her writing was influenced by uncomforting situations she faced in 2017. “I used to cry a lot every day, and then I would write down and make notes. I hadn’t looked back since then. I decided to hide them somewhere safe and began reading them whenever I was having trouble.” She said
The 23-year-old has had running thoughts in her mind since childhood and describing her imagination on paper has aided her. “I’ve had a passion for poetry since I was a child. I was a really active child, and the library was my favorite hangout spot. As a child, I enjoyed making up imaginary friends with whom I would communicate, and other children thought I was strange.” Mupedze’s told Africa Newz.
‘Far Across’, a poetry collection she recently published, reflects on the battles she fought and accomplished.
“I didn’t want to publish,” she continues. ”Lindokuhle Mpanza encouraged me to publish, and it was through him that I met my publisher, Simson Ramatsie, who brought Far Across to life. I’ll be forever grateful to them both.”
She expressed on how she used to compare herself to others and would avoid looking in the mirror at all costs. She didn’t think she was good enough, but writing saved her.
“Let me say that Far Across saved my life. Life isn’t fair, and once I accepted my failures, I became happier, wiser, and more grateful. God made you exactly the way you are; be grateful and cherish that. I’m currently working on my third book, and my life has never been more exciting. I will be forever thankful for everything they have done and will do in the future.”
