The Dutch city is going to dismantle its historic Koningshaven bridge in order to let Jeff Bizos the Amazon founder’s superyacht to sail through.
The bridge was built in 1878 and had to be rebuilt after it was bombed by Nazis during the second world war. Despite the officials promising after the monument was restored in 2017 that the bridge would never be dismantled again, now beautiful national monument will be teared down out.
The council has promised that the bridge will be put together, the procedure will take few weeks. This decision has attracted a lot of anger from the locals, residents are not pleased as they say it is against principals because of money power.
Some residents have mixed feelings about this ordeal, but they say if they put it back together the way it was before and it’s also an opportunity to create jobs. The yacht is still being built in the nearby town and it will be the world’s largest sailing superyacht once finished.
The multi billionaire has promised to pay for the dismantling of the bridge, which is expected to happen this summer.
